Crafting to Caring & Everything in Between

I am what I am and that's all that I am. So, here I am. Wife. Mother. Student. Small business owner. Lastly, the recently unemployed and unable to get unemployment.

But like the saying goes, when God closes a door, somewhere He opens a window.

How I got here:

God has always guided me and it is up to each and everyone of us to listen to His voice. He speaks to us. He guides us in our thoughts. Take a moment and listen. He won't steer you wrong. Every time I haven't listened, I've found myself wishing I had.

The last two months have been a real soap opera. So, I'll slowly go back and fill you in. But, most recently my daughter, Eva has had health issues that mask themselves as seasons common cold with a rather alarming single symptom that has stumped even the brightest pediatric minds at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

So, I believe that although I've been fighting that voice in my head that says its time to stay home and find out on your own what is wrong, God has intervened and made the decision for me.

What to expect from this blog:

I am a new wife of 19 months, so although I'll do my best not to bash the hubby during a tiff, I'll post about being a wife, what that means to me and any tips I can give to even newer wives.

I am a mother to a beautiful and exceptionally bright 14 month old named Eva. My trials and triumphs with her will definitely consume an reasonable amount of the dialog here.

I am a student in my final semester of my undergraduate career. Growing up in Houston, TX, I didn't feel like college was all that necessary. My 23 year old brother makes more than I did before getting laid off and he only have high school diploma. So, this is a pretty HUGE accomplishment I never thought I'd achieve and has taken a very long time to get to. But I'm not done yet. So, I'll likely chronicle my final 30-something days a college student and the glorious event of graduating.

I am a nationally recognized certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and kinesiologist (the study of human movement). Although I no longer run my personal training business, mostly due to daycare costs, I'll most certainly be posting health and fitness topics geared to primarily to new and veteran mommies alike.

Lastly, I have been sewing since the age of 6 or 8 and have turned it into a business, Sassy Smidgens. My Etsy shop is closed til graduation but you can check us out on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/SassySmidgens to see what things I've made and any new updates on when the shop will reopen.

Well, it was nice getting acquainted with you and I hope that you stop back soon to see what things are going on.

I have several blog posts yet to come involving this past weekend's trip "window shopping" at the nursery and some wedding presents I have yet to make for this wedding season.

Til then...
